Summary
- The answers you give in our questionnaire, including weight, height, birthdate and health conditions, stay on your device. We do not receive them.
- We only receive your name, email, optional phone number, goal and recommended meal plan, and only if you ask us to contact you.
- We do not sell your data, show advertising, or use tracking or analytics cookies.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time by emailing info@ikariandiet.org.
1. Who we are
Ikarian Diet (ikariandiet.org and the Ikarian Diet app) is run by [company legal name], [registered address], [company registration or VAT number]. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. What we collect and why
When you ask us to contact you
At the end of the questionnaire, and on our waitlist page, you can leave your details so our office can contact you when the app is ready. We collect:
- your name and email address
- your phone number, if you choose to give it
- your main goal (for example "Lose weight") and the name of the meal plan we recommended
- the date and time you sent the form
Why: to contact you about the Ikarian Diet app. Legal basis: your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time.
Questionnaire answers
Your answers about your body, age, activity, food preferences, allergies and health conditions are used to calculate your result inside your browser or the app on your phone. They are saved only on your device, so you can return to your result, and are never sent to us. You can delete them by choosing "Start the questions again", by clearing your browser's site data, or by deleting the app.
In the app
- Your plan, daily log and favourites are stored on your phone.
- Account (optional): if you create an account, we store your email address and a secure sign-in identifier so your plan can be restored on another device. If you sign in with Apple, Google or Facebook, we receive only your name and email address from that service. [name of the account provider, for example Supabase or Firebase, and where its servers are located]
- Subscriptions: payments are handled entirely by Apple (or Google on Android). We never see your card details. We receive confirmation of your subscription status from [RevenueCat, or your chosen subscription service] so we can unlock Premium features.
When you visit the website
- Server logs: our host, Hostinger, automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to keep the site running and secure.
- Fonts: our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with Google.
- Browser storage: the questionnaire saves your answers in your browser's local storage so you can come back to your result. This is not a tracking cookie and is not shared with anyone.
3. Health data
Information about health conditions, pregnancy or food intolerances is a special category of personal data under the GDPR. We have designed the website and app so this information stays on your device and is never sent to us. It is used only to add notes to your plan, such as a reminder to check with your doctor.
4. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with the service providers we need to run Ikarian Diet, each bound by a data processing agreement:
- Hostinger: website hosting, where contact form sign-ups are stored
- Google Fonts: fonts on the website
- Apple and Google: app distribution and in-app payments
- [account provider and subscription service, once chosen]
We never sell or rent your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
5. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on safeguards approved by the European Commission, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
6. How long we keep data
- Contact sign-ups: until the app launches and we have contacted you, then for up to 12 months, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- App accounts: while your account is open, and deleted within 30 days after you close it.
- Server logs: according to Hostinger's retention, normally a few weeks.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw your consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email info@ikariandiet.org. We will reply within one month.
You can delete your app account at any time from the app's Profile screen [once accounts are live].
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to your local data protection authority. In Greece this is the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (dpa.gr).
8. Children
Ikarian Diet is intended for adults. The questionnaire accepts ages from 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us their details, please contact us and we will delete them.
9. Security
The website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Contact sign-ups are stored outside the public part of the web server, so they cannot be downloaded from the website. Only authorised staff can access them.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will tell you in the app or by email.
