1. About these terms
These terms apply to the website ikariandiet.org and the Ikarian Diet app (together, "Ikarian Diet"), provided by [company legal name], [registered address] ("we", "us"). By using Ikarian Diet, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Ikarian Diet.
2. Health information, not medical advice
Ikarian Diet gives general information about nutrition and lifestyle, inspired by the traditional way of life on the Greek island of Ikaria. It is not medical advice, and it does not replace advice from a doctor, dietitian or other qualified professional.
- Calorie targets, BMI and meal plans are estimates calculated with standard formulas. Your real needs may differ.
- Talk to your doctor before changing your diet, starting a fasting routine or trying to lose weight, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, have a medical condition such as diabetes, heart, kidney or thyroid disease, have had an eating disorder, or take medication.
- Fasting is optional. Do not fast if you are pregnant, underweight or unwell.
- Always check recipe ingredients against your own allergies and intolerances.
- Longevity statistics about Ikaria describe the island's population as a whole. They are not a promise of results for any individual.
If you feel unwell, stop and seek medical help.
3. Who can use Ikarian Diet
You must be at least 16 years old to use Ikarian Diet, and 18 to buy a subscription, or have the consent of a parent or guardian where the law allows.
4. Your account
You can use parts of the app without an account. If you create one, please give accurate details and keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account at any time from the app's Profile screen or by emailing info@ikariandiet.org.
5. Free and Premium features
Some features are free, including the questionnaire, your daily plan and a selection of recipes. Ikarian Diet Premium unlocks extra features, such as all meal plans and the full recipe library. We may change which features are free or Premium. If we remove a Premium feature you have paid for, we will tell you in advance.
6. Subscriptions, free trials and cancellation
- Prices: Premium is offered as a monthly or yearly subscription. The current price is always shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency, including any taxes that apply.
- Billing: you buy subscriptions through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account. Their terms of sale also apply to your purchase.
- Free trial: new subscribers may get a free trial (for example 7 days). Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your subscription starts automatically and you are charged.
- Automatic renewal: your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancelling: cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. After cancelling, you keep Premium until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds: refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. To request one, use reportaproblem.apple.com or Google Play's refund process.
- Price changes: if we change the price, Apple or Google will tell you in advance, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
7. Using Ikarian Diet properly
Please do not misuse Ikarian Diet. For example, do not try to break or overload it, access other people's data, copy or resell our content, or use it for anything unlawful.
8. Our content
The Ikarian Diet name and logo, the app, our recipes, meal plans, articles, guides and design belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may print and share our free guides as they are, without changing them, as long as you credit Ikarian Diet. Some photos are used under the Unsplash license.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep Ikarian Diet available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free or up to date. We may update, change or stop parts of the service. We may update these terms. If changes are significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before they apply.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or that come from following general information without seeking professional advice where these terms ask you to. If you are a consumer, you keep all your rights under consumer law.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Ikarian Diet at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. If we do, we will tell you why, unless the law prevents us.
12. Law and disputes

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
